FPC Youth Recognized

On Sunday, August 25, the 23rd Annual Service Corps Dinner and Celebration honored 17 FPC youth along with the 2019 Confirmation Class. Each youth honored gave a minimum of 35 hours to First Pres Dallas, their schools and communities over the past year. Initiates receive a Service Corps tee shirt. Second year members were each given a prayer box. On behalf of 3rd through 6th year members, the Youth Committee made a donation to Mosaic, a local organization that helps immigrants.

The Confirmation Class was recognized for their service project work on “Save the Oceans, Save the Planet.” Partnering with 4ocean, they sold 150 bracelets to help in ocean clean up. The 7th graders also sold 75 canvas bags as an alternative to one-use place bags.

Speakers for the evening included Bas Gray who told about his summer experience in Northern Ireland as part of the Kelly Camper program and Douglas McKenzie who shared about volunteering with the Stewpot’s summer day camp at FPC.
