PNC Nominee: Ernest R. Higginbotham
Ernie Higginbotham is a native Texan and son of a Presbyterian minister. He attended elementary school in Dallas and graduated from high school at Carthage in East Texas. Afterreceivinghis undergraduate degree in history from Princeton, Ernie went on active duty with the U.S. Army serving as a Field Artillery officer in Vietnam and Cambodia. He received his law degree from the University of Texas and served as a Briefing Attorney for the Texas Supreme Court. Ernie joined the Dallas firm of Strasburger & Price where he practiced antitrust and business litigation for 27 years. After taking early retirement as a Senior Partner, he was head of litigation for Nortel Networks and General Counsel forUnitedLex Corporation. Ernie currently is on the faculty of UNT Dallas College of Law where he is Mentorship Program Facilitator. After marrying Donna McKay in 2012, Ernie has enjoyed living downtown -- a block from the Church.
Ernie Higginbotham is a Ruling Elder who has been a member of FPC since 1984. He has previously served as Vice Moderator of Session, President of the Foundation, President of the Corporation, Chair of the Sesquicentennial Steering Committee, Capital Campaign Steering Committee and Chorister Camp counselor. Ernie's current FPC activities include teaching adult Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, Monday morning breakfast at the Bridge and monthly food distribution at the Stewpot. His P.C.(U.S.A.) involvement includes Presbyterian Historical Society Board Member and Treasurer, Assistant Stated Clerk of the Synod of the Sun, and Grace Presbytery Committee on Ministry and Examinations Subcommittee.
Ernie's prior community service includes President of the Greater Dallas Community of Churches, President of the Board of Presbyterian Village North, and Presbyterian Communities and Services Board Member.
