Epiphany and a Future with Hope

Written by the Pastor Nominating Committee

In Sunday's Old Testament lesson, Jeremiah assured us "for surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for . . . a future with hope" (29:11). On the church calendar, January 6 is Epiphany, when we celebrate the manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles as represented by the Magi (Matthew 2:1–12). In common parlance, an epiphany is a revealing moment.  This January 6, First Presbyterian Church of Dallas will have such an "ah ha" moment.

At the congregational meeting following the 10:50 worship service—a service in which we will commission volunteers to go on the medical mission to Haiti and ordain and install new elders and deacons—you will learn of the person God has chosen to be our new Head of Staff Pastor.

After a 19 month search, the PNC will present this candidate for the congregation to vote to call. On Epiphany Sunday, we are excited to invite you to share in our epiphany of the hope that the Lord has revealed for leadership at First Presbyterian Church of Dallas.

The Pastor Nominating Committee is a group of church members were elected us to call our next Head of Staff Pastor. The members of the PNC are Joe Alexander, Bill Cobb, Susi Parks Grissom, Ernie Higginbotham, Martha Ingrum, Carolyn Jefferson, Kelly Boyington Voelker and Julius Zsohar, III.
